Small variations in depth cause only a small deviation of the dark-bright
border in the image, only a small part of a period. If the projection
grid has a smooth modulation as a sine so a pixel sees a destinct gray-value.
If the grid is shifted a quarter of the period the same pixel sees
the grayvalue of the cosine. The quotient corresponds to the tangens
function. Calculating the atan function gives is the interpolated angle
within the period.

With a special optical element (called Option SINUS)
attached to the lens of our LCD-Projectors give smoothly modulated
grids.
